Our preparation process
Most of the work in a good paint job happens before any colour goes on. We start by washing down surfaces where needed, then fill cracks, nail holes and dents with a suitable filler. Larger cracks are raked out and filled in layers so they do not shrink back.
Once filler has dried, we sand it flush, along with any glossy woodwork, so the new paint has something to grip. Bare plaster, filled patches and stained areas are then primed or spot-primed. This stops patchy 'flashing' through the top coats and seals in marks such as water stains.
Finally, we cut in edges by hand and apply two full coats as standard, inspecting the work in good light before we call a room finished.
How we protect your home
Before any paint goes on, we protect what you've got. Floors are covered with dust sheets and hard-wearing floor protection, furniture is moved to the centre of the room and wrapped, and radiators, light fittings and sockets are masked or removed where it helps. We keep the work area separate from the rest of the house where possible, tidy as we go and leave the room clean and ready to use when the job is finished.

FAQ
How long does it take to paint a room?
How long a room takes depends on its size, its condition and the number of coats, and we'll give you an estimate in your written quote.
Do I need to empty the room?
No. It helps if you remove ornaments and small items, but we move and cover furniture ourselves and put everything back afterwards.
Can you help me choose colours?
Yes. We can talk through colours and finishes, suggest sample pots and explain how different sheens behave in your light and with your use of the room.
Do you supply the paint?
We'll talk through paint options with you and include materials in your written quote.
Can I stay at home while you work?
Yes. Most of our customers do. We plan the order of rooms so you always have somewhere comfortable to be.
