Our preparation process
Wallpaper shows every lump underneath it, so the wall needs to be right first. We strip old paper using steam where needed, taking care not to damage the plaster, then wash off old paste residue.
Cracks and holes are filled and sanded smooth. On bare or patched plaster we apply a primer or size so the paste grips evenly and the paper can be repositioned while hanging. On poorer walls we may recommend lining paper first.
Before cutting, we plan where the pattern will start and finish so the most visible areas look right, and check batch numbers on every roll.
How we protect your home
Wallpapering is messy before it's neat. We cover floors and furniture before stripping or lining, because steam, wet paste and sanding dust get everywhere. Skirting boards, window sills and sockets are masked, switches and plates are removed where needed, and offcuts and old paper are bagged up as we go. Once the paper is hung, we wipe paste from the woodwork and check the seams in good light before we leave.
